Boomerang Boom PowI've decided it would be a lot easier if more things acted like boomerangs. And by things, I mean living things...with an emphasis on human beings.   
So many people walk in and out of our lives. With goodbyes, without goodbyes, sometimes for no reason at all. This is much easier when you're younger. As a babysitter I've witnessed that kids generally have a three minute rebound rate when they're upset about something. Billy Jean steals Cindy Lu's periwinkle crayon and there's mayhem, tears, the whole nine yards. Generally they move on to the next elementary level conflict and forget, make up right away, or stop talking to each other Boomerang Boom Pow

Happy Right NowGood things come to those who wait, right? That's lovely and all, but it raises the bar pretty high. Because everybody's after that Hollywood happy ending, the one guys just don't digest but will still canoodle with their girlfriends and promise that yes, they will have that some day. Oy.   
This fits nicely with the premise of certain teen movies: the nerdy best friend and the popular girl are totally meant to be but she goes through douche bag after douche bag when her Mr. Right is watching from the sidelines the whole time-rolling his eyes with inhaler and coke bottle glasses in tow. All of a sudden the girl is all, "hey, where h Happy Right Now

Maybe it's the MaybellineThe main character of Grey’s Anatomy (amazing show, by the way), Meredith, is constantly referred to as “dark and twisty” by other characters. I’m willing to bet a lot of people resonate with that description. I’m not cookie cutter by any means, unless I’m baking. I appreciate my life to shreds but that doesn’t mean I don’t occasionally hole myself up in my room with some slower-than-molasses sad songs. Or chuck things at my closet to hear everything else a little clearer. Or doodle somewhat pessimistic song lyrics into the fog of my shower door.

I can't say I expected anything that has happened so far Junior year to happen. I've had the best grades ever (I thought Junior year was when everyone's grades plummet?) and some of the people I never thought I'd see again showed up and stuck around. And then some of the new ones, the good ones, well they disappeared faster than you can say "drama." I don't where we went wrong, but I can't feel guilty anymore. It's not my fault that you put everything before me.

I don't care how busy you were. You make time for the people you care for.

So basically...I'm not taking anyone's crap anymore. It's a nice feeling, being more up front. And things have been great lately, so I'm done taking the good parts for granted. Glorifying the crap in my life does nobody any good.

Maybe I'll go real crazy and drink from the milk carton or something next, savor this invincible feelng for awhile.
